workshop on communicating climate injustice through film

Friday 9 September | 3pm

Dalymount, Phoenix Bar

PRICE: FREE

NO BOOKING REQUIRED

On Friday September 9th, BEFF will be hosting a closed workshop which will bring together creatives, researchers and advocates for environmental justice issues. The workshop will explore how key concerns relating to environmental and climate injustice in Ireland could be  communicated creatively through fictional or documentary film storytelling.

WHY ARE WE HOSTING THIS WORKSHOP?

As well as providing a platform for films on issues of environmental justice, it is hoped that the  existence of the platform provided by BEFF will help to catalyse the creation of films on domestic  issues of environmental injustice that need to be understood by a wider audience.

The workshop on communicating environmental injustice through the film is designed to serve two  purposes:

  1. a) For advocates and researchers concerned with environmental justice issues, it is hoped that  the workshop will provide insight into how their concerns could be effectively  communicated through film.
  2. b) For creatives and filmmakers, it is hoped that the workshop will build greater awareness of  issues of environmental injustice and how they could use their talents of storytelling through  visual media to support people and communities facing these injustices.
